1. For the promotion of short and feature films and the development of a spirit of friendship and co-operation among filmmakers from all over the world, the 9th Alytus International Film Festival will be held from 7th to 13th November 2021, in the city of Alytus, Lithuania
2. Fiction, documentary and animation of both feature and short films may participate, as long as:
a) Their production has been completed after February 1, 2019.
b) Their final print of screening is available in DCP, Apple ProRes 422, h264 or MPEG4
c) Their running time does not exceed 30 minutes for short films.
d) The minimum running time for a feature film is 60 minutes.
(The Selection Committee reserves the right to accept longer films in exceptional cases).
d) Only one film per director is accepted.
3. Entry Procedure
a) The entry form along with the film screener should be submitted via https://filmfreeway.com and https://festhome.com by 16th August, 2021.
b) Submission of the entry form to the Alytus International Film Festival implies unconditional acceptance of these regulations. The Festival reserves the right to invite short films out of the above procedure in special cases.
The film screener that will be submitted to the Festival along with the entry form will remain with the archives of the Festival and will be available in its Market.
4. Pre-Selection Procedure
The pre-selection of the films is made by a group of experts on cinema and the arts who are suggested to the Administrative Board by the Artistic Director, who also supervises their work.
The Final selection, programming and any change in them is proposed by the Artistic Director. The deadline for the shipment of the selected screening copies is the 31st of August 2021.
a) Any film that will not meet this deadline will be excluded from the competition. Only high quality standard prints will be accepted.
b) The Festival will return all screening copies within thirty days after the end of the Festival, to the address specified by the director or producer at least 10 days before the expiry of the shipment deadline.
c) The Festival covers the return shipment, not including extra costs and tariffs to the shipping country.
AIFF Feature Awards
Grand Prix — $10,000. The prize will be awarded to the producer(s) of the winning film.
Best Director — $7,500. The prize will be awarded to the director(s) of the winning film.
Best Actor — $5,000. The price will be awarded to the winning actor of the film.
Best Actress — $5,000. The price will be awarded to the winning actress of the film.
Special Jury prize — $5,000. The price will be awarded depending on the Jury's decision.
1st and 2nd runner-up awards to feature films in both Animation and Documentary films
AIFF Shorts Awards
Best Short Film — $4000. The prize will be awarded to the producer(s) of the winning film.
Best Director — $2,500. The prize will be awarded to the director(s) of the winning film.
Best Actor — $2,000. The price will be awarded to the winning actor of the film.
Best Actress — $2,000. The price will be awarded to the winning actress of the film.
Special Jury prize — $3,000. The price will be awarded depending on the Jury's decision.
1st and 2nd runner-up awards to short films in both Animation, Experimental and Documentary films
The festival aims to invite one director or representative of each film in competition. Hotel accommodation and daily meals are provided. These provisions are subject to change without prior notice, due to budget controls. Personalized information will be provided upon selection.
a) The film screener remains with the Festival’s Film Market.
b) The Festival reserves the right to digitize the submitted films for the needs of the Film Market and its Archive.
c) Film excerpts that might be broadcast on television or the internet should not exceed duration of 3 minutes or 10% of the total running time of the film.
d) Transportation costs for preview material and prints submitted to the competition program shall be covered by the applicant. The Festival will undertake the costs of returning and securing the films as long as they are in the possession
